Mother throws 5-year-old child into Kelani River

A woman who allegedly threw her 5-year-old child into the Kelani river from the Kadirana bridge that links Wattala and Mattakkuliya, and tried to commit suicide was caught by the people and handed over to the police.

Police said the child was missing and a search operation has been launched with the assistance of the Navy.
