Colombo, May 25 (Daily Mirror) - Minister of Women and Child Affairs Saroja Savitri Paulraj has instructed the Ministry Secretary and the Additional Secretary (Administration) to take immediate steps to recruit the required staff to streamline investigation activities at the National Child Protection Authority (NCPA).
The directive was issued during a discussion held today between the Minister and NCPA officials on current issues in the child protection sector and measures needed to strengthen the institution’s operations.
During the meeting, extensive discussions were held on recent developments related to child protection, including the need to fill existing vacancies within the NCPA to improve the efficiency of investigations and related services.
The discussions also focused on improving coordination between the NCPA and other relevant institutions involved in child protection. Attention was also drawn to safeguarding the independence of the authority in implementing the provisions of the Act.
Deputy Minister of Women and Child Affairs Namal Sudarshana, Ministry Secretary Tharangani Wickramasinghe, NCPA Chairperson Preethi Inoka Ranasinghe, Deputy Chairperson Clifford Perera and several other officials attended the meeting.
