Manusha assures to digitize foreign employment sector

Labour and Foreign Employment Minister Manusha Nanayakkara assured digitizing the foreign employment sector to avoid procedural delays in hiring local workers for jobs in Oman.

The heads of labor recruitment agencies in Oman drew the attention of Minister Nanayakkara in this, and the latter assured them that he would provide immediate solutions.

The minister gave this assurance during the discussion with the heads of labor recruitment agencies during his four-day official visit to Oman.

The labor recruitment agency officials pointed out to the minister that the workers have to travel a long distance personally to come to the embassy to get the approvals needed for the recruitment of workers. They have to spend a lot of time and money on it.

Due to a shortage of officers in the embassy, the workers had to spend more time obtaining approvals.

It was also agreed to take necessary steps to recruit domestic workers only after conducting an interview through video technology. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
