Man falls to death from five-storey building in Wellawatte

Colombo, June 4 (Daily Mirror) - A man died after falling from a five-storey building in Ramakrishna Place, Wellawatte, the Wellawatte Police said.

The deceased has been identified as Rasaiah Thavarasa, a 59-year-old father of two and a resident of Irudayapuram, Batticaloa.

Police said the victim, who had been employed as a watchman and housekeeper at a business premises in Ramakrishna Place for the past three years, was cleaning window panes on an upper floor corridor this morning when he lost his balance and fell.

The man, who fell face down, was pronounced dead at the scene. A senior police officer said a stream of blood was visible from the victim’s head and face at the site of the incident.

Investigations are being conducted by the Wellawatte Police.
