Man escapes from quarantine centre in Mannar

A man who has been under quarantine at the Pampaimadu Army Quarantine Centre in Vavuniya was located near the Mannar Railway Station after he had managed to flee the centre on Saturday.

Police said the man had escaped from the Pampaimadu Quarantine Centre yesterday morning and was found near the Mannar Railway Station on the same evening.

Health officials said that the Mannar Railway Station and all its staff were disinfected as a precautionary measure.

According to the Wanni Security Forces Headquarters, the man who is a resident of Chilaw had arrived from Qatar.(Romesh Madushanka)
