Large scale drug racketeers arrested in Mannar with cannabis

Four persons including two females involved in a large scale drug racket have been arrested with 52 kilos of cannabis and over 900 kgs of smuggled turmeric during a joint raid by the Police and Army at Uliyankulam in Mannar.

Police said the joint operation was carried out by the STF, Army and the Mannar Police on information received by the Army.

The officers also recovered Rs.1.72 million, five notes of 100 US dollars, a tractor and a lorry during the raid.

The arrested suspects were handed over to the Mannar Police.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
