Colombo, Nov. 15 (Daily Mirror) - The National Police Commission has approved the appointment of Senior DIG Sanjeewa Dharmaratne as the Senior DIG in charge of Police Administration.

The Commission has also endorsed the removal of Senior DIG Lalith Pathinayake from his acting role overseeing Police Administration. Pathinayake has now been appointed as the Senior DIG in charge of the Central Province.

Last week, the Inspector General of Police had formally sought the Commission’s approval to remove Pathinayake from the acting position and to appoint Dharmaratne to the Police Administration Division.

With the transfer of Senior DIG Dharmaratne, another officer is expected to be named shortly as the Senior DIG in charge of the Western Province.
