LG polls can be held with an advance of Rs. 2 billion: Deshapriya

The Local Government election could be held with an advanced payment of about Rs. 2 billion whereas about Rs. 8 billion is required for the whole process, Chairman of the Delimitation Commission Mahinda Deshapriya said.

He said 60 percent of the required money for the LG polls was needed only after the election.

He said this at a program held in Vavuniya yesterday.

The Chairman said most of the payments in relation to previous elections have been made only after the election process was concluded. (Sithum Chaturanga)
