’Ice’ worth Rs. 13.6 million seized at CME

A parcel containing crystal methamphetamine worth Rs.13.6 million, a stimulant drug popularly known as Ice, has been taken to the custody of customs officer at the Colombo Central Mail Exchange (CME) today, Customs Deputy Director (Legal) and media spokesman Sudatta Silva said.

He said the dubious parcel was delivered to Sri Lanka from the Netherlands at the Mail Exchange today.

The parcel was addressed to a local individual. As there was no one to claim ownership to the pack, it was opened by the officer of the Sri Lanka Customs Postal Valuation Division in front of the other officers of the Postal Department and the police Narcotics Division.

The officers found 13,640 Methamphetamine tablets wrapped in seven bed sheets in the pack.

The pack of contraband was handed over to the PNB for further investigations. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
