Colombo, May 21 (Daily Mirror) - The Ministry of Health has urged organizers of Vesak Dansals to encourage the distribution of hot beverages such as tea and coffee instead of soft drinks, citing concerns over the spread of waterborne diseases.

Director General of Health Services Asela Gunawardena said soft drink Dansals carry a higher risk of spreading diseases transmitted through contaminated water.

He requested all parties to promote health-safe Dansals by serving hot beverages instead.

Dr. Gunawardena said the request was made considering the prevailing spread of infectious diseases reported in some parts of the country.
