Gunman in multiple shootings arrested

Colombo, March 19 (Daily Mirror) - A 31-year-old man involved in several shootings has been arrested by officers from the Western Province (South) Division Crimes Unit in Homagama.

According to police, the suspect was arrested with 5 grams of heroin in his possession at Galavilawatta in Homagama.

Investigations revealed that the suspect, a resident of Gonapala, is a member of an organized criminal gang. He was involved in the assault of two individuals in Avissawella on May 12, 2023.

Police said the suspect was the gunman in a shooting incident in Avissawella on May 26, 2023, in which one person was injured. Police also reported that the suspect played a role as the gunman in a shooting in Avissawella in September 2023, which resulted in the deaths of two individuals.
