Govt issues gazette revising banned groups, individuals

A gazette extraordinary was issued by the government revising the list of banned organisations and individuals in the country.

The latest gazette notification, issued by the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence yesterday, updated the list to include 15 banned organisations and 217 individuals.

The previous revision was made on February 20, when 15 organisations and 222 individuals were listed.

According to the new gazette, groups such as the LTTE and the Tamil Rehabilitation Organisation remain banned.
