Good air quality in most Sri Lankan cities

Colombo, January 24 (Daily Mirror) - Air quality levels across most cities in Sri Lanka were reported to be good on yesterday Thursday, with moderate levels observed in Colombo, Jaffna, Kurunegala, Kandy, Galle, Badulla, Trincomalee, Mullaitheevu, and Polonnaruwa, according to the Vehicular Emission Test Trust Fund of the Department of Motor Traffic. 

Good air quality was recorded in areas including Vavuniya, Kegalle, Nuwara Eliya, Ratnapura, Embilipitiya, Batticaloa, Kalutara, Polonnaruwa, and Monaragala. 

Officials noted that maximum Air Quality Index (AQI) levels typically occur during peak traffic hours, specifically from 7.30 to 8.30 a.m. and 1to 2p.m. 

The Sri Lanka Air Quality Index (SL AQI) is forecasted to remain at good levels in most cities over the next 24 hours, providing a positive outlook for air quality nationwide.
