The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) today said that they have decided to withdraw from the Ministry Technical Committee, if the COVID-19 GPS mapping not completed by end of this week.
GMOA Editor Dr. Haritha Aluthge said at a media briefing that GPS mapping related to COVID patients is very important when making decisions.
He said only in the Western Province has a certain procedure of mapping the COVID patients as it is a high-alert area. The mapping has to be implemented to add all patients across the country, Dr. Aluthge said.
“We have requested the Ministry to complete this GPS mapping and to release it the public to make them aware. We have been emphatic on this during the whole of last month. But nothing has been done as yet,” Dr. Aluthge said.
“After completing the map with the daily COVID updates, the health sector can take decision easily to stop spreading of the virus. The mapping will clearly show the status from less to high alert,” he said.
We have been discussing the matter with the Director-General Health Services during the past few days. We will have another discussion today before arriving at a final decision on this, he said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
