Fingerprint database for criminal investigations reaches one million

Colombo, March 23 (Daily Mirror) - A total of one million criminal and court convicts' fingerprints have now been computerised for investigative purposes, police said.

SSP Ruwan Kumara, Director of the Crime Record Division, said that the project is being carried out in collaboration with the Computer Department of the University of Colombo and the Police Fingerprint Unit.

The computerisation process, which began in 2013, allows police to access fingerprint records at any time for investigations.
