Fair weather across most areas, showers in North, East

Colombo, December 5 (Daily Mirror) - Fair weather will prevail in most parts of the country today, but showers are expected in the Northern and Eastern Provinces as well as the Anuradhapura district, the Meteorology Department said.

They said showers may also occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Southern Provinces and in the Nuwara-Eliya, Kandy, Kurunegala, Galle, and Matara districts during the evening or night.

Misty conditions are likely in many areas of the island during the morning.

Meanwhile, showers are expected in the sea areas from Batticaloa to Kankesanthurai via Trincomalee.

Winds in the sea areas around the island will be north-easterly or variable in direction, with speeds ranging from 20 km/h to 30 km/h.

The sea areas around the island are expected to remain calm to slight.
