Escaped COVID-19 patient located

The police has arrested the COVID-19 infected patient who had escaped from a private hospital in Kollupitiya on Tuesday.

Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said he was arrested in Damana area and was handed over to the COVID treatment centre in Palamuna.

He said legal action will be taken against the person after the treatment and quarantine period is completed.

The suspect, identified as Mohamed Rikas, a resident of Ampara, had escaped the hospital while undergoing treatment for COVID-19.
