Election expenses probe launched on MP Archchuna, eight other candidates in Jaffna

Jaffna police have initiated investigations into election expenses of nine candidates, including Jaffna District MP Ramanathan Archchuna, who contested the last general elections.

The investigations deal with the election expenses of parliamentarian Archuna Ramanathan and candidates Sasikala Raviraj, A. Umakaran Rasaiah, S. Mayuran, T. Krishnananth, N. Kawshalya and Kuruswami Suren.

However, police have recorded only the statement of candidate Sashikala Ravirajah and they are to submit the report to the Elections Commission after recording the statements of the others.
