Edu. Minister assures A/L exam free from power cuts, tariff hikes

Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said today he would look into the possibility of halting proposed eletricity tariff hike and halting power cuts until the Advanced Level Examination is over.
He told Parliament that A/L examination is scheduled to be held from January 23 to mid-February.
The Minister said this in response to a question by Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa that the students would have to face difficulties if electricity tariffs were increased again.
The Minister said he would raise the matter in the Cabinet and discuss it with the Power and Energy Minister to provide relief to the students facing the A/L examination. (Ajith Siriwardana and Yohan Perera)
