Court amends restraining order against Mullivaikkal commemoration

Amending the restraining order issued preventing the Mullivaikkal commemoration, Mullaitivu Magistrate Lenin Kumar said that Mullivaikkal commemoration can be held under two conditions.

Accordingly, the commemoration can be held without violating quarantine laws and that terrorist leaders or a terrorist organization should not be remembered in public.
The order was issued considering a motion filled by a group including Attorney-at-Law Anton Punidanayagam and former Mullaitivu Provincial Councilor Raviharan.

Earlier, the Police have obtained the restraint order against 32 suspects who were preparing to organize the commemoration near the Mullivaikkal beach or near the monument.

Accordingly, seven Police stations in the Mullaithivu Police Division have obtained restraint orders preventing the week-long Mullivaikkal commemoration.(Romesh Madushanka)
