Colombo, May 05 (Daily Mirror) - A complaint has been lodged with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) against former Executive Director of the National Lotteries Board Tusitha Halloluwa, over an allegedly defamatory and false statement made regarding President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
According to the President’s Media Division, Halloluwa—who also served as Director General of Public Relations under former President Ranil Wickremesinghe—allegedly made a public statement using President Dissanayake’s name in a manner that damaged his reputation and character.
The complaint was filed by Attorney-at-Law Akalanka Ukwatta on the President’s instructions, with the involvement of President’s Counsel Upul Kumarapperuma.
The complainants have called for an immediate investigation into both Halloluwa and the social media activists who circulated the statement online. They have also urged legal action against those responsible for spreading misinformation and defaming the President.
