Committee handling UNP helped secure 450,000 votes at LG polls

Colombo, May 29 (Daily Mirror) - The committee which handled the campaign on behalf of the United National Party (UNP) managed to secure 450,000 votes at the Local Government polls, party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe said today. 

Speaking during a gathering at party headquarters Sirikotha, Wickremesinghe said he had assigned this committee comprising Deputy Leader Ruwan Wijewardene, Assistant Leader Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Chairman Vajira Abeywardena, Deputy Chairman Navin Dissanayake and General Secretary Thalatha Athukorala to revamp and convert the UNP into a party with a new look.
