Chinese Embassy seeks probe into Port City clash

Colombo, July 23 (Daily Mirror) - The Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka has urged Sri Lankan authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into a violent confrontation involving Chinese nationals at the Colombo Port City and establish the facts as soon as possible.

The Embassy said it was closely monitoring the incident and requested Sri Lankan police to ensure the personal safety and protect the lawful rights and interests of Chinese citizens in the country.

According to police, two Chinese nationals were injured during a clash between two groups of Chinese nationals at the Colombo Port City in the early hours of today. Another Chinese national was allegedly abducted during the incident.

The Colombo Harbour Police have launched an investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, the Chinese Embassy advised Chinese citizens in Sri Lanka to enhance their safety awareness, remain vigilant, and report any emergency situations to the relevant authorities.
