Colombo, May 26 (Daily Mirror) - A shortage of doctors at the Badulla Teaching Hospital has prompted authorities to merge the hospital’s Special Intensive Care Unit (SICU) and Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) units and operate them as a single SICU unit from today, hospital sources said.

Hospital Director Dr. Himali Wijegunasekara has informed relevant officials of the decision through a letter issued yesterday (25).

According to the letter, the move was taken due to the shortage of medical officers serving in the SICU and the MICU.

The merged unit is expected to function under a single administrative arrangement until further notice
