Athurugiriya Ladiya’s accomplice ‘Sudda’ arrested in Hokandara

Yohan Pradeep Kumara alias 'Sudda', an accomplice of underworld figure Athurugiriya Ladiya had been arrested by the STF at Hokandara in Athurugiriya yesterday.

The STF also seized two motorcycles which were allegedly used in criminal activities.

Investigation revealed that the suspect was on bail in connection with several cases including the killing of Nimalsiri Perera alias ‘Podi Sudu’ in Athurugiriya in 2018, the shooting at the residence of former minister Sujeewa Senasinghe’s secretary at Athurugiriya and possession of seven swords in April, 2018.

It was also revealed that Nalin Chaturanga alias ‘Athurugiriya Ladiya' had been conducting these criminal activities from overseas.

The 37-year-old gangster, a resident of Hokandara, was handed over to the Aturugiriya Police to take further legal action.

Police said a STF team led by CI Nadeeka Silva carried out the raid following a tip-off.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
