Colombo, June 16 (Daily Mirror) - Cabinet Spokesperson Nalinda Jayatissa has stated that any decision on arrest or non-arrest will be based strictly on evidence uncovered during ongoing investigations, in remarks linked to the legal developments involving former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
“Arrest or non-arrest will be decided based on what is revealed during the investigation. As the investigation proceeds correctly, one might feel it is moving in their direction,” Jayatissa said, responding to reports that Gotabaya Rajapaksa had sought a court order to prevent a possible arrest under the Prevention of Terrorism Act.
He added that investigations will continue under established legal procedures, with outcomes determined by the findings of the inquiry.
