Aththanayake M. Herath passes away

Colombo, May 30 (Daily Mirror) - Former Senior Lecturer in Sinhala at the University of Peradeniya,  Aththanayake M. Herath, has passed away at the age of 73. University sources officially confirmed his passing yesterday.

Mr. Herath was a highly respected figure in academic and public circles, known for his extensive contributions to the promotion of Sinhala literature and culture. Beyond his academic career, he was a familiar face on national television, frequently appearing as a guest speaker on popular programs such as Swarnavahini's Amadahara and Ithna Rupavahini's Doramadalawa.

His insightful commentary and profound knowledge endeared him to audiences across the country, making him a cherished voice in both educational and cultural discussions. Colleagues and former students remember him as a dedicated educator and a gentleman of great integrity.
