Amendment brought in to change 22A as 21A: Wijeyadasa

An Amendment was brought in during the Committee stage to change the name of the 22nd Amendment as 21st Amendment, Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe said.

He said the Constitutional Amendment should be now called 21st Amendment and not the 22nd.

The Amendment brought in by the government was named 22nd Amendment as SJB General Secretary Ranjith Maddumabandara had earlier tabled another Amendment which was named 21st Amendment.

However, it was overruled by the Supreme Court.
