Rough seas, strong winds expected off southern and southeastern coast

Colombo, June 18 (Daily Mirror) - The Meteorology Department has warned that sea areas off the coast from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota will be rough at times, with strong gusty winds reaching speeds of 50 to 60 kmph.

Issuing an advisory, the Department urged naval and fishing communities to exercise extreme caution while venturing into these sea areas due to the expected adverse weather conditions.

Fishermen and naval personnel have also been advised to stay alert and closely monitor future weather forecasts and advisories issued by the Department.

The warning comes as strong winds and rough sea conditions are expected to affect the southern and southeastern coastal waters, posing risks to marine activities.
