The train services which are scheduled to operate today (25) from Colombo Fort except the night mail trains will be operational today, Sri Lanka Railway Station Masters’ Union (SLRSMU) said.
SLRSMU Secretary S. Kasun Chamara said the decision was taken due to the quarantine curfew being imposed in Pettah.
Accordingly, all the night mail trains scheduled to leave the Fort Railway Station, will be cancelled.
Meanwhile, the railway Department said all long-distance train services operating from the Colombo Fort Railway station will be suspended from tomorrow (26) until further notice. Accordingly, all office trains operating on the Mainline, Puttalam line and Kelani Valley railway line will be suspended from tomorrow.
However, six trains will operate on the coastal line tomorrow up to Kollupitiya railway station. The train (8311) arriving from Galle at 3.15 am, the ‘Sagarika’ train (8097) arriving from Beliatta at 4.30a.m and the ‘Samudra Devi’ Train (8327) arriving from Galle at 5.00a.m will reach the Kollupitiya railway station tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the trains scheduled to leave Kollupitiya station are Sagarika train (8096) to Beliatta at 4.40p.m, Samudra Devi train (8760) to Galle.
However, several train services will operate in morning hours and evening to transport students who are facing the Advanced Level examination.
All short distance train services from Aluthgama to Galle, Galle to Beliatta, Polgahawela to Maho, Nawalapitiya and Anuradhapura will operate as usual. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
