43 asylum seekers nabbed off Negombo

Sri Lanka Navy intercepted 43 persons fleeing to Australia in a multi-day trawler in the early hours of today, the Navy said. The trawler was intercepted by Navy some 20 nautical miles off the west of Negombo.
 
The trawler and the passengers including 10 Sinhalese and 33 Tamils were escorted to Modera Harbour to be handed over to the CID for further investigations.
