274 jaywalkers within three hours today

Legal action will be taken against 274 pedestrians who were charged with jaywalking in the Colombo city, police said.

Those found guilty would be fined Rs.1,000 for the first offence, Rs.2,000 for the second and Rs.3,500 for the third. In the absence of spot fines an appearance in court is necessary.
