27 arrested for protesting in violation of court order in Colombo

Colombo, March 28 (Daily Mirror) - Twenty-seven individuals, including the convener of the Inter-University Students Federation (IUSF) and the Secretary of the Allied Health Sciences Students’ Union, have been arrested for holding a protest march in violation of a court order.

Police said the arrested individuals were protesting in front of the Ministry of Health, in defiance of a court order issued against the demonstration yesterday.

The Allied Health Sciences Students’ Union initiated the protest in front of the Ministry of Health yesterday afternoon, with the participation of a group, including the IUSF convener.

The suspects were arrested by Maradana Police this morning.

They will be produced in the Maligakanda Magistrate's Court.
