22 police officers including STF personnel contract Covid-19

At least 22 Police officers including Special Task Force (STF) officers have tested positive for Covid-19, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.

He said more than 400 officers have been sent for quarantine.

DIG Rohana said that separate quarantine centres and a hospital in Punanai and Kundasale have been reserved to treat the police officers who contracted the virus.

Police said all necessary steps had been taken on the orders of the IGP to prevent the virus from spreading in the police department.

DIG Ajith Rohana said police duties would not be suspended for any reason. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
