18-year-old Lankan gang raped in UAE

An 18-year-old Lankan girl has been gang raped in UAE, General Manager of the Foreign Employment Bureau Mangala Randeniya said. The victim is a resident of Kurunegala.

The perpetrators have not been arrested but the SLFEB was investigating to trace the agents who had helped the victim obtain visiting visa to travel to UAE for employment, Randeniya said.

He said that the SLFEB advised the public to refrain from travelling to the Middle East for employment on visiting visa as it could result in complications in the event of any harm befalling such persons. (SD)
