Colombo, March 12 (Daily Mirror) - The Colombo Commercial High Court has issued an enjoining order preventing 'Friends of Manipay Hospital' and several other defendants from using in Sri Lanka the name “Ride for Ceylon” or a similar name without the consent of the plaintiff company, Ride For Ceylon (Guarantee) Limited.
Colombo Commercial High Court Judge Amali Ranaweera made this order pursuant to a plaint filed by David Rasiah, Chairman of Ride For Ceylon (Guarantee) Limited, against Friends of Manipay Hospital and several other defendants.
The plaintiff had sought an order preventing the defendants from using the name and mark “Ride for Ceylon” within Sri Lanka.
The Court further issued an enjoining order restraining the defendants from using in Sri Lanka the “Ride for Ceylon” mark as set out in the plaint, or any similar mark, without the consent of the plaintiff.
The Court further issued notice of an interim injunction and summons on the defendants, returnable on March 23.
Counsel Niran Anketell instructed by Sanath Wijewardhena Associates appeared for the plaintiff.
