The Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, announced that the overnight policy rate will be maintained at 7.75% during a press conference held in Colombo on March 25, 2026, emphasizing continued economic stability. He noted that rising global energy prices and geopolitical trade disruptions have required adjustments in domestic energy pricing. However, with inflation currently below the 5% target, these impacts are expected to be absorbed.
