The festive season is upon us. But should we as Sri lankans go ahead with celebrations planned?
I note with concern that some have decided to go ahead with festive merry making.
Is it morally correct?
Bodies are being unearthed everyday due to landslides in remote areas that are difficult to access. Roads are blocked. Submerged villages are surfacing as time unfolds.
Goods are being delivered as and when access is possible. Families await whatever that can reach them.
Food stuff is scarce. Acres & acres of food crops have been lost. Month of December will unearth more & more sad stories. Lives lost with the missing ever increasing. The least city folk can do is postpone fun outings in various hotels & hot spots.
Are we so morally bankrupt that we can’t forego celebrations while a national disaster is unfolding before our very eyes?
