I am appalled to read that 60% of drivers engaged in transport are allegedly on drugs, as quoted by a minister. If true, this is a ticking time bomb waiting to cause devastating accidents.
However, what’s even more concerning is that the police crackdown seems to be limited to bus drivers so far.
Are all other drivers clean and exempted? It’s likely the percentage will be higher if all are checked.
When will we see action across all transport types? Safety shouldn’t be selective.
Moreover, another point is the menace of blaring horns and rubbish music players fixed on buses, heavy vehicles and three wheelers, which is adding to our city’s noise pollution woes. Our miseries on the roads is on the rise.
These drivers seem to be above the law, disturbing peace and causing stress to citizens.
It’s high time that authorities took strict action against all errant drivers and enforced noise pollution regulations. Let’s make our roads safer and our environment more peaceful.
It’s high time for checking all types of drivers for drugs and vehicles on roads for sound pollution equipment and remove them.
