The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, in collaboration with Sri Lanka Press Institute (SLPI), proudly announces the arrival of the prestigious World Press Photo Exhibition (WPPE) 2025 in Sri Lanka. The WPPE is being brought again for the second consecutive year due to its popular demand and the uniqueness of the powerful stories told by these incredible photojournalists.
This highly anticipated exhibition, running from Friday, February 27th to Sunday, March 8th at the “One Galle Face” (OGF) in Colombo, and subsequently at “”Sahas Uyana” in Kandy, from Friday, March 13th to Monday March 16th, 2026, presents a curated selection of the best and most impactful photojournalism and documentary photography from around the world to engage in critical reflection on crucial global issues.
Founded in 1955, the World Press Photo Foundation presents impactful exhibitions, promoting media freedom and visual literacy. Since 2021, the World Press Photo Contest has embraced a regional strategy, ensuring greater geographic and cultural diversity among participating photographers.
Regional and global juries comprised of 31 highly qualified photojournalists meticulously reviewed nearly 60,000 entries from 3,778 photographers in 141 countries.
