Steps have been taken to ensure the safety of Sri Lankans residing in Northern Israel, Sri Lankan Ambassador in Israel said yesterday.

The Ambassador said the following on the situation in his latest social media post.

I would like to draw your attention to the security of Sri Lankans serving in the northern region of Israel due to the current conflict situation.

It has been observed that the number of airstrikes by the Israeli Defense Forces on the southern region of Lebanon, as well as the number of missile attacks by Hezbollah on the northern region of Israel is increasing.

Accordingly, people living in the northern region, including Haifa, Nahariya, Akko, Galilee, Afula, Mount Carmel, Nazareth, and Tiberias, should remain vigilant regarding possible attacks from Lebanon and any provocative incidents that may be carried out by certain groups near the borders of the country.

As mass gatherings have been banned by the Israeli security forces, you are kindly advised not to participate in such gatherings until the current security situation improves.

As there are more than 9,000 Sri Lankans serving in the northern region of Israel, you are advised to follow the instructions issued at all times by the Israeli Defense Forces, government media, PIBA, and the Embassy.

In the event of any attack, you may obtain free Israeli ambulance services by calling 101 and providing your location.

For further instructions or assistance, you may contact the Embassy’s WhatsApp number 00972-559305731, which is available seven days a week.
