Russian woman dies in tragic railway crossing accident

A 23-year-old Russian woman has died after being struck by a fast-moving train travelling from Beliatta to Colombo at the Ahangama Kabalana railway crossing.  

According to police, the victim was travelling on an electronic scooter at the time of the accident. Police also stated that the railway crossing’s light signals were operational at the time of the incident.  

The injured woman was brought to Koggala railway station to take her to a hospital and was found to be dead by the medical staff of the ambulance that was called in to take her to the hospital.  The postmortem of the body is to be conducted at the Karapitiya National Hospital in Galle,
