Garment worker killed by elephant

A young woman waiting for a bus at a bus stop in Viranagama in Girandurukotte yesterday morning had been trampled to death by a wild elephant that had roamed onto the road from the nearby jungle.

The deceased Wannakuwatta Waduge Ashcharya Mihirani (20) was a garment worker, and she was on her way to the garment factory when she met with the accident.  Police said she succumbed to her injuries on admission to Mahiyangana Hospital. 

OIC Girandurukottte Police IP Sudesh Chaturanga is conducting further investigations on the instructions of ASP Wehitha Deshapriya.
