On June 21 and 23, Sri Lanka will once again resonate with the vibrant sounds of the Fête de la Musique, also known internationally as International Music Day. Organised by the Embassy of France in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, this musical event marks its return with two evenings of live performances in Colombo and Kandy.
French singer and writer Kelly ou moi, whose blues-inspired style and evocative lyrics offer an intimate musical experience will perform in Colombo and Kandy followed by Dj Chandana and Sri Lankan band DotDotay.
The concerts will take place at Port View Restaurant at No 14, 23rd Lane, Colombo 3, on June 21 at 5pm and at the Kandy Club on June 23 at 7pm, offering audiences the experience of a unique blend of French and Sri Lankan musical talent in a festive atmosphere. Entrance free and no registration to be needed.
The Fête de la Musique is made possible thanks to the support of sponsors and institutional partners. The French Embassy warmly thanks all those who contribute to the success of this cultural celebration. The full programme and list of partners are available on the Embassy’s website and social media pages.
First launched in France in 1982 by the French Ministry of Culture, the Fête de la Musique was designed as a free, open-air event allowing musicians, amateur and professional alike, to share their music with the public. Since then, it has evolved into a global celebration embraced by over 120 countries and a thousand cities. Its aim is to honour music in all its forms and promote access to culture without barriers. The return of this festival to Sri Lanka reinforces music’s role as a universal language and a powerful tool for intercultural dialogue.
