Best performers of AIESEC honoured at Tribute ’24

Amidst a backdrop of celebration, reflection and recognition, AIESEC in University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ) recently held its annual awarding ceremony titled Tribute ‘24 to honour the outstanding leadership and achievements within its membership. This event was held recently at the Sri Soratha Auditorium, Faculty of Technology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

According to a press release issued by the organiser of the event, the occasion is looked upon as a night to remember by the AIESEC and is marked in the USJ calendar. Ken Vijayakumar, General Manager of Human Resources, Administration, Purchasing, and Sustainability at Baur & Co. (Pvt) Ltd, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Additionally, A.H.L.R. Nilmini, the Dean of the Faculty of Technology at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, and Prasad M. Jayaweera, the Dean of the Faculty of Computing, and the Staff Advisor of AIESEC in USJ, were present as guests of honour. The Bronze Partner, Green Agriculture (Pvt) Ltd., Deluxe Partner, SDB bank, and Banner Partners, Team Bond Company, Metropolitan Technologies (Pvt) Ltd., Foreway Logistics (Pvt) Ltd., Hemas Capital Hospital (Pvt) Ltd., Jay Kay Marketing Services (Pvt) Ltd., Adapt Information Technologies (Pvt) Ltd., and Ceylon Agro Industries (Pvt) Ltd., also made their presence to support the event. The Complementary Partners were Sensa Animal Feed (Pvt) Ltd and SavidZone Technologies (Pvt) Ltd., the Printing Partner was Print House, while the Media Partner was Good PR.

The event honoured the best performing AIESECers for the term 2023/24 for demonstrating exceptional leadership and unwavering spirit in igniting inspiration and positive change in both local and global scales.

Tribute ‘24 didn’t forget to appreciate the parents who were the pillars of strength behind such exceptional members. Therefore, the event commenced with a heartfelt tribute to the unsung heroes behind the scenes–the parents of the membership whose steadfast support and boundless love shaped and guided their AIESEC journey. The event took place in the presence of the membership and the parents of AIESEC in USJ, corporate partners and representation of the Member Committee of AIESEC in Sri Lanka.

After the commencement, Thanushi Perera, the Local Committee President for the term 24/25 of AIESEC in USJ, presented the annual report for the term 23/24. She emphasised the remarkable and unforgettable achievements of the entity. To reflect on some, AIESEC in USJ was awarded Excellence in External Relevance, Excellence in Marketing, Excellence in Digital Experience, and the “Enjoying Participation” People Management award at the National Leadership Development Seminar 2023 Gala Awards. Furthermore, AIESEC in USJ also received the Excellence in Digital Experience and Excellence in External Relevance awards at the National Conference 2024 Gala Awards. At the regional level, AIESEC in USJ was nominated for the “Own the Present” iGV Performance award and the “Shape the Future” People Award at the Asia Pacific Summit 2024. These achievements highlight the outstanding performance of AIESEC in USJ throughout the term

On this glamorous evening, a total of 24 awards including 20 functional awards, 2 organising committee awards and 2 individual awards were presented to the members who had given their all for AIESEC in USJ to reach new heights and shine brighter than ever before. To name a few, the organising committee of Avurudu Local Committee Meeting (LCM) was awarded the Up-and-Coming Organising Committee and the organising committee of JXLDS 12.0 was awarded the Most Outstanding Organising Committee for the term 23/24. The most anticipated and prestigious awards of the night went to two amazing young individuals who had displayed immense commitment towards the entity. Amaya Amarasinghe was awarded the Best Emerging Young Leader and Abhishek Ranasinghe was awarded the Best Young Leader for the term 23/24, inspiring the future change-makers of the membership.
