The International Olympic Committee (IOC) have urged the Ministry of Sports to discuss, review and fine-tune the Sports Law after it came under scrutiny for the second time in Lausanne, Switzerland. The IOC have also coordinated and discussed this with FIFA, as they recently visited Sri Lanka, and other International Sports Federations which have fully supported this approach.

The 2018-19 season has been one like no other for Thomian cricket. Led by Captain Sithara Hapuhinna, S. Thomas’ College emerged champions in the Singer U-19 Division One Limited-overs tournament, won the Royal-Thomian Big Match encounter after a lapse of 12 years and reached the finals of the U-19 Two-day Championship. To cap it all off, the team also made two successful tours to Australia and England in December and June respectively.

The Sri Lanka Youth Netball team took wing to Japan yesterday (26) to take part in the 11th Asian Youth Asian Netball Championships from June 29 to July 7 in Kashima, Japan. The tournament is being conducted by the Asian Netball Association. Eleven countries are taking part in it.

Australia retained the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2007 when they defeated Sri Lanka by 53 runs on the Duckworth and Lewis scoring method in the final. Australia compiled 281 for four from 38 overs and Sri Lanka managed to score only 215 for eight from 36 overs in this rain curtailed finale.
