Grand Launch 5th Generation Kia Sorento & the 125th Publication of the Hi!! Magazine

Kia Motors Lanka recently launched two landmark models - the fifth generation 2026 Kia Sorento Hybrid and the all-electric Kia EV5, marking a new era of hybrid and electric mobility in Sri Lanka. The grand launch party was held at the Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo, in conjunction with the launch of the 125th issue of Hi!! Magazine. The occasion carried a sense of full-circle celebration — Hi!! Magazine had featured the very first Kia launch in its second issue, and now, over a decade later, the two brands came together once again to celebrate innovation and progress. The glittering evening brought together Colombo’s movers and shakers — from diplomats and sports stars to artistes and entrepreneurs — to witness Kia’s next chapter unfold.

Kia Motors (Lanka) Chairman Mahen Thambiah described the two vehicles as representing “the bridging of two worlds — Kia’s trusted legacy and its bold, electrified future.” First introduced to Sri Lanka in 2004 — a milestone also featured in Hi!! Magazine — the Kia Sorento has evolved into its fifth generation, now offering a 1.6L petrol-hybrid powertrain, 2WD and AWD options, and advanced safety features. The new EV5, Kia’s first fully electric model for Sri Lanka, delivers up to 555 km per charge and features a sustainably designed interior, setting a new benchmark for the future of eco-friendly driving in the country.
