An online system for the issuing of copies of deeds and extracts was launched today, Register General of the Register General's Department W.M.M.B. Weerasekara said.
He said obtaining copies of birth, marriage, and death certificates had been made online from August 2.
Accordingly, people can obtain a maximum of five extract copies and deed copies from all land registries in the country.
He said the system was introduced to reduce the difficulties in requesting copies of birth, marriage, and death certificates in the existing COVID pandemic situation. Therefore, an online request system was started by the Department for the public's use.
Accordingly, the public can use the below link to request certificate copies from their mobile phones or computers. Relevant payments can be made using Master or Visa cards.
Prior to placing a request, the applicant should verify their mobile phone number with the department. After the phone number has been successfully verified, the applicant will be able to complete the form according to their requirements.
The official website of the Register General's Department (http://www.rgd.gov.lk/web/index.php?lang=en) announced that due to the prevailing COVID epidemic, many of the Divisional Secretariats have been quarantined and the maintainance of Internet facilities in those offices has slowed down.
