A noticeable decline in the spread and infections of COVID-19 could be observed at present where the number of houses where there were at least four Covid patients under home-management by August 30 had now reduced from 60 percent to 45 percent, a medical expert said yesterday.
Department Head of Community Medicine of the Colombo University Prof. Manuj Weerasinghe said there were at least four Covid patients in 60 percent of the houses which registered for home management system by August 30 and that it has now reduced to 45 percent.
Dr. Weerasinghe told a news conference at the Information Department that 17 percent of the houses which registered for the home management system had around 5 to 6 patients by August 30.
“These figures showed that there had been more covid positive patients in the community than we thought,” he said.
He said more than 32,000 SMS messages had been received by the 1904 SMS gateway and added that around 120,000 patients have been managed so far.(Ajith Siriwardana)
