Police used tear gas and water cannons to disperse the protest march staged by the students of the Inter University Students Federation (IUSF) at the entrance to Bank of Ceylon Mawatha, Colombo.

Thousands of students from the IUSF began a protest in Kelaniya this morning calling for the immediate resignation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

It is such a pity that the beautiful peoples peaceful protest movement had to be hijacked by elements such as these. A few years in uni and they believe they know it all and have all the solutions. They have the right to voice their views, concerns and suggested solution, but not to force their views on others.
